1. Wintercraft Beer Festival
What will warm you up more in the middle of winter than a mug of beer? If you enjoy a frosty mug, then be sure to attend the Wintercraft Beer Festival each year at the Twenty Ninth Street shopping center. Not only will you get to indulge in some of your favorite brews, but you’re sure to find some great new craft beers.
The tasting is very popular, so be sure to buy your tickets well in advance. Entry gets you the chance to taste as many beers as you like, as well as a souvenir cup. This is a 21 and up event, so find a babysitter and enjoy some time out with your adult friends.
2. Boulder Polar Plunge
Since 1982, brave citizens across Boulder, Colorado have taken a plunge into the freezing cold waters of the Boulder Reservoir. This event is the best way to usher in the new year, and it draws a very excited and daring crowd. Each year, hundreds of people jump in and experience the chill of a lifetime.
Participants must register for the event, and even kids are welcome to attend. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Whether you choose to swim or you just want to watch, it is sure to be a day you won’t forget.
3. Snow Much Fun
If you have a busy schedule, then Snow Much Fun is perfect for you. This event lasts for most of the winter, from November through January. You and your family will enjoy thousands of holiday lights as they fill Boulder’s Central Park with the colors of the holidays. More than 275,000 LED lights make up this spectacular event.
Be sure to grab a cup of hot cocoa from the Boulder Public Library before you make your way through the park. With so many different lights and displays to see, you’re sure to come back several times before the season is over.
4. Lights of December Parade
Welcome the holidays with your neighbors at the popular Lights of December Parade. This event has been held in Boulder, Colorado for more than 30 years. You’ll get to enjoy floats designed by local businesses and marching bands from the area schools. Kids will enjoy watching fire engines covered in lights drive down the path. Of course, no winter parade would be complete without a visit from the one and only Santa Claus! This event is free and perfect for the entire family.
5. Boulder International Film Festival
Spend your last few weeks of winter watching a variety of new films from across the world. Filmmakers from all over participate in this annual event. From screenings to workshops, if you are a movie buff, then this is the winter event for you.
